Of course there will be music! Your child will be exposed to music of many different cultures around the world as well as some of the musical concepts and vocabulary that will be used frequently in future music lessons. These concepts will be introduced in a fun, age-appropriate way and experienced through a variety of senses.

There is no better way to learn than through a multi-sensory experience, and almost all of our activities involve seeing, hearing, and feeling all at once. These experiences help us learn about our environment and world around us! Sensory input is obtained through our feet as we play without shoes. Our vestibular senses are stimulated by bouncing and rocking, and we develop our proprioceptive sense through a variety of other movements and activities.

You will notice your child's ability to understand and follow routines in our classes as well as increased memory and recall as they learn song lyrics and movement sequences. We practice focusing on and listening attentively to original stories and unique sounds and learn about cause and effect through instrument and prop play. Our activities encourage problem solving, symbolic thinking, reasoning, and more, all in a developmentally appropriate way.

Gallop, spin, crawl, scamper...you name it, we move it! Experiencing new movements with our bodies creates new neural pathways in our brains, and repetition of these only makes those connections stronger. Plus, we develop our balance, coordination, and spatial awareness while we practice those gross motor movements.

Hearing and recognizing the rhyming words in our songs, learning and understanding new vocabulary words through interactive story time, imitating sounds, and engaging in vocal play and back-and-forth conversation are just some of the ways that we develop our language skills in Kindermusik. Keeping a steady beat is also a large focus in any of our classes as this skill transfers to the ability to speak and read with a smooth cadence.

Most are born with ability to hear, but listening is a skill that needs to be developed. We love listening to sounds in Kindermusik - not only just music, but sounds that children will encounter in their daily lives. We learn how to prepare to listen, actively listen, and then respond. We practice this a lot! After all, listening is such an important part of meaningful conversation and school-readiness.

Children need love and attention for proper brain development and to grow and thrive. Within our classes, we incorporate lots of positive physical touch, eye contact,

presence, and playful interactions to build connections and promote social and emotional health.  We also allow choice and freedom to share, which build confidence. Turn taking, understanding emotions, and building empathy are also large areas of focus in our classes.

Having our children engage in instrument play, object exploration, and fingerplays really helps build those little muscles needed for so many things. Developing finger strength and independence are necessary for writing, coloring, cutting, and even playing the piano!
