As parents, it’s natural to worry about everything—from when your child will say their first words, to how well they’re moving, to whether they’ll make friends easily. You’re not alone!
But here’s the truth: every child develops at their own beautiful pace, and at Tuneful Journey, we’re here to celebrate each and every milestone right alongside you—with activities that support every learning style and every comfort level.

Each child is unique, with different needs as they grow and learn.
Here are some types of learners you might meet in our Kindermusik classes—and how we support each one:
Visual Learners
How they learn best: Through images, spatial exploration, and visual storytelling.
How Kindermusik supports them:
Educators model instrument and play ideas, pairing words with visual cues.
Pictures and props are used to help focus their attention during active listening
Large motor activities support their need to move while strengthening spatial awareness and proprioception—helping children understand where their body is in space and how it moves.
Auditory Learners
How they learn best: By hearing and distinguishing sounds, tones, and pitches—and categorizing what they hear.
How Kindermusik supports them:
Call-and-response activities build auditory memory and vocal imitation.
Following active listening, children and their grownups are encouraged to imitate the sounds together. This is especially helpful because children are naturally tuned in to their caregiver’s voice!
Songs provide clear auditory cues for turn-taking and transitions, helping children understand when to start, stop, or shift activities with greater ease and meaning.
Kinesthetic Learners
How they learn best: Through hands-on activities and movement.
How Kindermusik supports them:
Creative movement opportunities offer new and fun ways of learning to move their bodies
Classes include hands-on play where each learner gets to touch, feel, and manipulate their own set of instruments or props along with their grownup
Fingerplays, silly rhymes, and pretend play add to their learning and understanding of the musical concept
Sensory Learners
How they learn best: Through engaging their senses—touch, sound, sight, movement—and by seeking or avoiding different kinds of sensory input.
How Kindermusik supports them:
Each class is rich in multi-sensory experiences: from the texture of scarves to the beat of a drum to the sound of a gentle lullaby during rest time.
Our educators are responsive to individual needs—whether a child prefers to move around or needs a quieter corner during instrument play.
The predictable flow of each class, along with repetition of familiar activities from week to week (with just enough variations to keep things exciting!), helps sensory learners feel safe and regulated, building confidence to explore at their own pace.
Emotional Learners
How they learn best:When they feel emotionally connected, safe, and supported—especially through strong relationships and familiar routines.
How Kindermusik supports them:
Songs that include a child’s name—like hello, goodbye, and turn-taking songs—help emotional learners feel recognized and important.
Educators and caregivers offer validating comments throughout class (“I see you tapping your sticks!” or “You’re flying like an airplane!”) to help children feel seen and understood.
Our scaffolding process encourages strong grownup-child connections by observing your child, imitating their actions, and then gently introducing new ideas. This validation helps build confidence and encourages them to try new things.
Teachers stay tuned to nonverbal cues, offering quiet support even when a child chooses to observe rather than participate.
What If My Child Doesn’t "Like" An Activity?
Very few children engage in every activity—and that’s perfectly okay! If your little one moves around during a lap bounce or prefers to be held during movement time, it might simply mean they need a little extra support and comfort in that moment to better match their learning style. These moments aren’t missteps—they’re a natural (and beautiful!) part of their learning journey.
